South Eastern Melbourne Rugby League Teams Battle in Round 1 Clash
Comely Banks Recreation Reserve was the scene for the start of some tense rivalries between local South Eastern Melbourne Rugby League teams on Saturday, and none more so than the Pakenham Eels coming up against the Eastern Raptors.
It was the new look Pakenham Eels Second grade squad that took to the field, and the boys were an unknown opposition, flying under the radar throughout preseason. It took the first half for the new team to really gel, and after a slow start, the Eels clawed back the score to come close to snatching victory from a shell shocked Eastern Raptors. Final score Pakenham Eels – 18 Raptors – 26.
Storm Junior Preseason Challenge
Magic round also saw some of the Pakenham Eels Rugby League Clubs junior grades get their first hit out for 2024, with both under 16s and under 18s squads taking on Casey Warriors. Both squads are also new groups this season with the club getting a boost in these grades of new and talented players, with a lot of promise.
With another week until round 1 for the Pakenham Eels Rugby League Club u18’s and with the under 16s getting the 1st round bye, its not long for our squads including our under 14s girls and boys, plus our non-comp grades to get started.
